Our forests produce many mushrooms and can be easily identified with a good reference book. A common one is "Mushrooms of Ontario and Eastern Canada " by George Barron. It is great fun to wander in the bush close to our camps, and search the forest floor. The easiest to identify for consumption are Morel's,Bolete's, Chanterelle's and Honey mushrooms.

With our diverse forests, one can be entertained from Spring to Fall as well as enjoying fishing, hiking, and just plain relaxing. While mushroom picking is a fascinating thing to do, one must always be cautious and educated to be safe.
